Bleu Nuit GHW Birkin 40 Toile H Courchevel Leather Bag by Hermès

Rare & Discontinued

Details

In 1984, on a flight from Paris to London, the singer, actress Jane Birkin found herself sitting next to Hermès executive chairman Jean-Louis Dumas. She complained to Dumas that designer handbags were never big enough to carry all the things a young mum needs. Together they scribbled out a sketch of a holdall bag on the back of a sick bag. A year later Dumas presented to Birkin what would become the Birkin bag, modelled after her signature handwoven basket. Since then the Hermès Birkin bag has become and remained the epitome of all handbags, a classic icon and considered an investment piece. This rare limited edition Birkin 40 is highly regarded as a collector's piece, in the discontinued heritage leather Courchevel and Toile H canvas. For a casual but sophisticated look.
