This rare and beautiful Chanel Tweed jacket is from the Fall 2005 Collection, where Karl Lagerfeld delved into Coco Chanel's history—specifically a 1920's liaison with the Duke of Westminster that saw her borrowing knits and tweedy pieces from his country hunting wardrobe. Cut in Chanel's classic box shape with long sleeves, it is meticulously constructed from an exquisite metallic tweed fabric, with Chanel's signature weaving technique that uses a variety of different kinds of threads to create a unique and somewhat irregular appearance. The fabric combines silk threads with mohair and gold metal threads, adorned with rabbit fur trims running down the front edges, around the back, the hem, cuffs and pockets. The result is an exceptional but subtle sheen that shines and creates optic illusion that the jacket changes color under sunlight, with a heightened luxurious feel. Country theme continues through brown and gold CC engraved wooden buttons with weaving effect engraving. The jacket is closed with four rows of double buttons connected by short link chains and a hidden set hook and eye, creating a seamless line at the front. Three buttons are on each cuff. Finished with signature CC camellia flower silk lining and interior metal chain. Extravagant in its refinement, unmistakably Chanel.
