Gold L'Exotisme 1988 Elephant Cadena Padlock Charm by Hermès

Rare & Discontinued

Details

In the 1930s, Robert Dumas created the iconic Kelly bag and with it the renowned Cadena charm. Meaning ‘padlock’ in French, the name dismisses further explanation, presented in a variety of motifs and materials. This fastening became a symbol of Hermès’ fashion influence, with its subtly engraved H signature. From an exquisite accessory, the Cadena became the centre of attention. This particular one has a polished finish on its gold-plated brass and displays an elephant motif, introduced in 1988 as the cadena lock of the year. A true collectors' piece and one of the most sought-after cadena motifs.
