In the 1930s, Robert Dumas created the iconic Kelly bag and with it the renowned Cadena charm. Meaning ‘padlock’ in French, the name dismisses further explanation, presented in a variety of motifs and materials. This fastening became a symbol of Hermès’ fashion influence, with its subtly engraved H signature. From an exquisite accessory, the Cadena became the centre of attention. This particular one has a polished finish on its silver-plated brass and displays a hand motif, introduced in 2002 as the cadena lock of the year. The hand is engraved with the words "2002 Annee de la Main", which is "Year of the Hand" in French. A collectors' piece.
